After many years of surveillance work, one thing stands out above everything else. The people who ring us are rarely angry. They are worn out.

They have spent weeks, and sometimes months, turning the same questions over. Why is the phone always face down? Why do the late meetings never seem to finish? Why does every question end in an argument?

Trying to find answers alone rarely works

Most of our clients have already tried to work it out for themselves. They have gone through bank statements, sat watching the car park and quietly asked friends. It almost never gets them an answer. More often it leaves them more anxious than before, and sometimes it alerts the very person they are worried about.

What they want is simple. They want to know, one way or the other.

A good result is not always catching someone out

This is the part of our work that people tend to miss. Sometimes the answer is that nothing is going on at all, and the late meetings really were meetings. That answer is worth just as much, because it lets someone stop guessing and get on with their life.

When the answer is the hard one, facts still help. A clear report with times, places and photographs gives a person something solid to stand on. They can speak to a lawyer, have the conversation they need to have, or make a decision about their future without wondering whether they imagined it all.

If you are stuck not knowing

A few honest pieces of advice from our team:

  • Hold off confronting them until you have facts. A confrontation without evidence usually ends in denial, and it makes the truth harder to find.
  • Leave their phone alone. Going through it, or putting apps on their devices, can be illegal and can hurt your position later.
  • Write down what you notice, with dates. Patterns matter.
  • Speak to a licensed investigator. A short chat costs nothing, and you will come away knowing your options.

Not knowing is the hardest part, but it does not have to stay that way. If you would like to understand how we go about finding answers, read about our surveillance service, or contact SpouseBusters for a confidential conversation.

Most Australians don’t think they’ll ever need a private investigator—until the day they do. But when that day comes, and that person is YOU, there’s only one question you need to ask yourself: which PI agency has the licensing, experience and track record to get you real answers?
